Ooooh that's a great opportunity... but I can't think of questions to ask! Other than "why the long wait?! WE WANNA WATCH IT ALREADY!!!" and "Are you planning on taking the shooting to a more exotic location--- perhaps, say, I dunno... Israel... ? "

I also post here what I posted somewhere else....and I've to say that I started to post only here about the series, asap.... Seeing that here it was to "hot" to sleep I spent my night collecting tweets about Falling Skies ;D.... twitter.com/Falling_Skies_As for "articles" I noticed mixed reactions, mostly caused by the fact that they showed a really little footage (just one minute long trailer) and there's still not so much to say or something more...like many of us say here it's a little early! Anyway it seems we have to wait until June 2011 Claire, TVHAlcolic ask our questions! Paz, Sorry, it won’t be out until sometime after the 2011 NBA Playoffs next June. The producers talked about how they could’ve had it ready to go by January/February, but that marketing during the playoffs is too big an opportunity to launch a show geared to a more male demographic. Plus, TNT does most of their shows during the summer. Claire, Noah talked about doing a lot of studying to prepare for the part. Also, he mentioned that his character’s knowledge of military history and tactics is why he becomes one of the leaders of a group trying to survive after the alien invasion. And that was funny ;D: The best answers came from the silly question asked by moderator Marc Bernadin;asked what they would raid from Sears in the event of an apocalypse, Wyle picked duct tape (to huge applause) And that list pretty sums up what they said at Panel • The panel featured the first-ever public glimpse of the series’ trailer, which depicted motorcycles and spaceships blowing things up. • Besides pilot scripter Robert Rodat (“Saving Private Ryan”), writers on the Steven Spielberg project include Graham Yost (“The Pacific,” “Justified”), Mark Verheiden (“Battlestar Galactica”), Melinda Hsu (“Lost”) and (if I heard right) a fellow named Joel Thompson. • The show has apparently not yet formally named a showrunner, though Verheiden was the only writer on the panel. • Yost will apparently be departing the show midway through its first season to return to his showrunning duties on FX’s “Justified.” • The series picks up about six months after alien death machines wipe out 80 percent of the world’s population. • Noah Wyle’s character, widower Tom Mason, was a tenured history professor at Boston University whose adolescent son was captured by the extraterrestrials. • For mysterious reasons, the extraterrestrials have been capturing a number of human adolescents. • Moon Bloodgood’s character is a pediatrician who “lost” her husband and daughter during the invasion, and finds herself drawn to Mason. • The aliens, called “skidders,” are “very scary and very creepy” and have difficulty tracking humans when those humans congregate in numbers of less than 200. • Another title considered for the long-untitled project was “Concord.” • Will Patton plays Mason’s military-man superior. Mason is second-in- command because of his expertise in historical military tactics. • Though we’re not likely to see him, Bruce Springsteen may or may not be among the survivors. ( Verheiden pointed out they joked about Bruce Springsteen being part of the resistance. "I want him on my side," he said) • “Falling Skies” is due to hit TNT next June. www.aintitcool.com/node/45889?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Mmmm as for the WOTW Spielberg remake, besides my aversion for Tom Cruise and besides the lame finale, I liked it. So, no, it's not a bad thing. But I got the impression that the show is not just a WOTW rip-off or we should consider so every show about alien invaders.

New "impressive" details! ;D In TNT’s ‘Falling Skies,’ Spielberg Delivers Very Deadly Aliensby Sara Bibel Jul 24th, 2010 | 10:06 AM | Comments 0 TNT’s ‘Falling Skies’ is destined to be one of next summer’s hottest series, if only because no less than Steven Spielberg is producing the new sci-fi drama about an alien invasion. The TNT series stars Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, the leader of a group of citizen soldiers who have banded together to fight the aliens, a premise that plays upon both the American Revolution and current anxieties about immigration and the second amendment. At Comic-Con, Wyle, co-star Moon Bloodgood, co-executive producer Mark Verheiden and Dreamworks TV executive Steven Franks gave a sneak preview of the ambitious saga. ‘ Falling Skies’ Begins After The InvasionSpecifically, six months after the ETs decide to call Earth home. Says Verheiden, “Washington D.C. is gone, and [humans] have to figure out what to do because [the aliens] are unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. They took out a lot of technology, all communications…. They killed all the military. The first step is to figure out if there a way to get back these things.” The Aliens Have an Agenda (Of Course)Fans need not worry the writers are making it up as they go along, says Verheiden. Adds Franks, “Don’t expect an answer in the pilot but you can be very sure that there’s actually a meaning [to the invasion]. What they’re doing is very strange.” The Aliens Have Weapons of Mass DestructionAccording to Wyle, “The aliens have the ability to target large groups of people… so large groups of 1,000 and 2,000 have been targeted for decimation. The idea of the pilot is we’ll split up into groups of 300 civilians and 100 fighters, and each of these units will take off in a different direction. We meet up later on to form some scale of larger resistance.” The extraterrestrials, however, are not the only enemy. According to Franks, “There are some people who are taking advantage of the situation. They love the chaos. It’s not just fighting against the aliens; it’s fighting against everyone.” Spielberg Is Heavily Involved“Steven’s all over it,” attests Wyle. “He was incredibly involved in the casting process, the shaping of the pilot script… He watched all the dailies…. He did the storyboards himself of what he wanted the reshoots to include… He’s cut all the trailers.” ‘Falling Skies’ Is Not Just For Sci-Fi FansEveryone insists that even people who do not normally enjoy science fiction will embrace ‘Falling Skies.’ “It certainly isn’t ‘V,’” Wyle says, referring to the ABC series. “It certainly isn’t any of the other science fiction shows I’ve seen. These aren’t morality tales cloaked in science fiction. This is dark human drama, and a lot of action. I don’t think I’ve done as much action in my entire career as I’ve done in the pilot. It’s closer to [the feature film] ‘Children of Men.’” Franks in turn deems ‘Falling Skies’ “as much of a family show as it is a science fiction show. What would you do if you never picked up a gun before but your son was in danger and your wife was killed? What would you do to protect your family? Whether you like sci-fi or not, anybody can relate to this.” Verheiden notes that the TNT drama “is not technologically based. It’s not spaceships. There are no ray-guns. [The humans] are up against a very deadly enemy. That aspect is science fiction. But as Tom finds himself thrown into this very desperate situation, he finds not just the courage to fight back, but also hope and love.” www.fancast.com/blogs/2010/tv-news/in-tnts-falling-skies-spielberg-delivers-very-deadly-aliens/

Another review we like ;D Our first glimpse of Spielberg's "Jericho meets Independence Day" seriesIn Falling Skies, Steven Spielberg's TV series coming summer 2011, it's six months since aliens wiped out most of humanity. How can Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood prevail? Our first glimpse of a trailer gave us some hints. Spoilers ahead... The panel, moderated by io9's own Marc Bernardin, started with our first trailer for the series, which only gave a few gruesome glimpses of the alien attackers. I saw one clear shot of metal feet stomping past as someone cowered in hiding, and there were quick cuts of a scene where Noah Wyle and a friend take on a monster in a storage facility or supermarket storeroom, and I thought I could see a ridged head. (In the roundtables for Falling Skies, Noah Wyle hinted that the aliens had more than two legs, and you had to get up close and personal to kill one.) The trailer starts with a child's voiceover narrating the horrible events of the alien attack, interspersed with some gray-tinged footage of the real thing. The child says that he/she was in school when the aliens arrived - and the aliens did not want to be friends. We see footage of a flying saucer coming and blowing up some houses, intercut with a child's drawing of several flying saucers coming down. There's also a child's drawing of jagged-toothed green aliens swarming. There were millions of these aliens, the child says, and they blew up all the big cities as well as the army bases. We see Noah Wyle talking to one of his kids, who says he just wants everything back the way it was, with his house and his bike and his room. Wyle responds that it's going to get better. We also see the resistance's military leader, played by Will Patton, saying the cities are a loss, and everybody needs to split up and hide, so they can survive. Noah Wyle, who plays a history professor, says that history is full of cases where a smaller, less well-armed force made so much trouble for an invading army that the invaders had to leave. Noah also pushes a guy on the ground and shouts, in his best Christian Bale voice, "We either do this the right way, OR WE DIE!" There are lots of glimpses of dark evil aliens attacking, intercut with explosions and quick cuts of action scenes. It looks pretty lavish and wide-screen, and this is all just from the pilot, since that's all they've shot so far. So how is it that Tom Mason (Wyle) goes from being a history professor to helping to lead the resistance? Well, his study of the American Revolution has left him with a deep understanding of the sort of military tactics that an out-gunned force can use against invaders. And this comes especially handy since the aliens have taken out the power grid and knocked the human race back to a 19th century level of technology. (I gleaned all this from the panel as well as the roundtable interviews.) Tom Mason is in charge of keeping the civilians alive, while Patton's character is in charge of the military side, and if you're guessing the two come into conflict, then you're definitely right — it sounds very much like the early days of Laura Roslin and William Adama, all over again. (And of course, producer Mark Verheiden, who was also on the panel, worked on Battlestar Galactica.) The American Revolution thing will come up a lot — but not as much as it could have. The show was originally going to be called Concord, after the famous Revolutionary War battle, and the Revolutionary parallels were going to be thick and fast. The producers decided to dial back on the American Revolution thing after realizing it could limit the show. Wyle described his character, Tom Mason: "He's truly an academic. He's a guy who leads with his intellect." He welcomed the challenge of taking this character and turning him into a real military leader and inspiring hero. The main take-away message from the panel and roundtables, in general, was that this show will be uplifting, and not as depressing as BSG could be at times. Yes, genocide and hardship will bring out the worst in people, and people will do things they never thought they'd be capable of - but we'll also see how it brings out the best in people. "It's not a show about people tearing each other apart. That's not a show we wanted to do," said Verheiden. Verheiden said he and the other producers know why the aliens are on Earth and what they want - he won't tell us just yet, but they do have it figured out. And they have an endpoint for the series in mind, even if they don't know every detail of how they'll get there just yet, since they have to see how the characters develop. Each season will consist of just nine or 10 episodes on TNT over the summer, so it's less of a commitment than a 22-episode season, Wyle said. Co-star Moon Bloodgood said her character is a pediatrician who lost her husband and child in the attacks, and she falls in love with Wyle's character. Unlike the character Bloodgood played in Terminator Salvation, this time around Bloodgood doesn't do much action. She looks after the children among the hundreds of survivors. "She's a mother type, very empathetic. Always wanting more peace than violence," said Bloodgood. Wyle, Bloodgood and Verheiden promised that a lot of the sort of issues you'd expect will be explored in this show. How do you reconstruct society after it's been destroyed? Are there things about the old social order that you don't want to preserve? Should you cling to social institutions when society is all but gone? How young is too young for a child to start carrying a gun? What's more important: teaching a child to protect him/herself, or trying to let him/her stay a child a little longer? Oh, and the trailer showed a glimpse of a trashed supermarket called ShopSmart, but Verheiden said any Evil Dead reference was purely unintentional. The pilot is already in the can, but the show begins filming on its order of nine episodes on Monday. Wyle said the scripts for the upcoming episodes are clever and surprising and full of ridiculous action, as the humans take the fight to the nasty aliens. io9.com/5595280/

Thanks for the two last detailed reviews! ;D Really a lot to comment on there... (even though we don't have the trailer yet, it's pretty well described there, and it seems to turn a lot around Noah Wyle). Really a lot lot lot of potential there! It really sounds like nothing else indeed! ;D

Another review from TV Guide. I didn't expect it.... Falling Skies: It's Not About the Aliens; It's About What They Left BehindJul 24, 2010 01:05 PM ET by Kate StanhopeBe the first to leave a comment.Buzz up!. Noah Wyle Sci-fans have seen aliens ravage Earth many times before, from Independence Day to V. But TNT's Falling Skies will be different. It won't be about those meddlesome aliens. It will be about what happens after our extra-terrestrial friends have left. The Steven Spielberg-produced Falling Skies, which debuts next summer, picks up six months after an alien invasion has wiped out a sizeable chunk of the human population. Did they leave any parting gifts? Well, that's the big mystery, and the characters will be trying to wrap their heads around what happened just as much as the audience will be, co-executive producer and writer Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) said at a Comic-Con panel Friday. Check out all of TVGuide.com's Comic-Con coverage Noah Wyle stars as a Boston University American history professor whose wife died in the invasion. One of his sons has been captured by aliens. He's got beef, and fortunately, his expertise in the American Revolution makes him a natural leader in the battle against the aliens. Producers said while the series is filled with action, its story is about humanity. The survivors are grappling both with a radically different world and the threat of another invasion. Comic-Con: Let TVGuide.com be your Avatar "How do you rebuild a society from scratch when you're constantly under threat?" Wyle said. "[They] become the architects of the next Constitution. If something hit the reset button, what are the aspects we'd want to retain from the life before?" Wyle admitted he didn't want to like the script. He had little interest in starring in another television show after a long tenure as Dr. John Carter on ER. But the story compelled him, as well as the attachment of a certain marquee producer. "When you're doing an alien show, it's nice to attach your coattails to Mr. Spielberg," he said. www.tvguide.com/News/Falling-Skies-Comic-1020923.aspxAnd I've to say that right now the best reviews come from women
