Darn, I was hoping they'd rescue Ben. Still, it's interesting that they caught a skitter, and showed us more about the parasite harness-thing. What a way to end it though...they want us to wonder if the thing's gonna attack.
I still want to know why they want the kids specifically.

Actually I like that they keep us guessing about that... It's part of the whole 'not knowing your enemy' deal. The day they can figure out how it all works, the day they understand WHAT it is the skitters are after, is approaching, but it can't happen all at once. I think the entire series will be about finding out how this thing works and putting the pieces of the puzzle together rather than just shooting the things until they run out of ammo.
I like that they make you wonder and reconsider your assumptions. Take the skitters for example- The whole 'nazi' example thing makes it clear that they're very well aware of how human psychology works and that they may actually see them as an opposing FORCE to be reckoned with. So they might be closer to humans than to creepy crawly spiders I thought them to be at first. that may explain why they're acting so 'humanoid'. Could they be a product of humans? It seems that the chain of command was established, at least- skitters are ordering MECHS about... So... they're 'in charge'?
And the whole thing about the purpose of the harness- okay, I assumed it was sort of a control over these kids. Using morphine-like opioids to keep the kids stoned makes sense to some level, I suppose (though how exactly they manage to get them to get ANY work done under the influence of morphine, and how they manage to REGULATE the amount of morphine secreted by the harness without risking sending the kids into overdose is beyond me)... But I've never heard of morphine establishing telepathic connection. So there has to be another element to the 'needles' that connects the kids to the skitters, otherwise how do they operate them?
And surely they don't ACTUALLY need the kids scavanging for metal parts, that doesn't make sense, considering their technology and resources. I'm glad that they addressed that point in the episode because it's really ridiculous. As it ןs I suppose we'll find out the real reason they want the kids soon enough.
As for the 'drama' parts of the episode, I thought it was nice, in that subdued (slightly corny) way. And the action sequences weren't too shabby either. Tom kicked ass. Getting a live prisoner to study was a brilliant idea. Pope and Weaver were less annoying than the last episode. The new doctor- Harris- I don't know about him. Although I agreed with most of his ideas on the prospects of human survival after an alien invasion, he just reeks of arrogance and that made me cheer a bit when Tom punched him. And really, I felt bad for Tom at that scene, but I agree that his belief in humanity's chances is a bit naive.
But all in all, I think it's taking a turn into an interesting, slightly more unpredictable direction than last episode. I liked it. (shocking)

But once they remove the battery, the transmitter shouldn't work. So how is the connection between the skitter and the kid still working? Or maybe it's not, and they're just messing with us

We don't know if worked. May take time. The battery is guided by the device itself, regardless. And skiterss intervened. [My guess]

I loved it, the best scene was when Tom was looking at his sleeping boys!!! It was so sweet.

I too enjoyed last nights episode. They just keep us guessing. I'm betting that the rescued Harness Kid will have a battle between good and evil going on within him the next episode. I really want to see the next episode.
Any news on them maybe picking up more episodes later on?

Yup, that was a good one. Anyone else think it's kind of funny that Greg Beeman wanted to cut out that one scene? Good thing Noah fought to keep it. There's not a lot of subtlety about this show, so I like the most 'complex' acting moments, and this one was simple and well acted.

Oooooh I didn't see the preview (I'm watching online) I think I prefer not to see it, you know? I thought last week's preview kind of spoiled things for me.

I really liked the episode, but I'm ticked that Karen was captured.
